Telkom must be breathing a huge sigh of relief now that Eskom has taken over the mantle of SA’s most hated company and we both know that ain’t no small feat. Clearly they’ve been attending the same night classes…..”Evil Coporate’s 101″…..I mean where else would Eskom have learned that in order to become totally reviled one must:
a) be totally incompetent
b) charge exorbitant amounts of money for crappy service
c) blame the customers themselves for the lack of service
d) Pay your directors millions for all of the above
Clearly I’m in the wrong gig baby! Seriously though, when last did you read a newspaper headline with the words “Telkom” and “insert derogatory sentence here” splashed across it? They’ve been waaay too quiet lately….not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Perhaps they’ve seen the error of their ways and are taking stock, slowly rebuilding and looking at strategies to put the customer first???…..or…perhaps crystal meth has been released into our drinking water and I should seriously stop downing that stuff like…well, umm…water?!!!

As for Telkom’s much awaited competitor, Neotel, I’m seeing a lot of press releases but that’s about it…”I’ll believe it when I see it”…not going to get my hopes up that there pricing or service will be any better, we had the same thing a couple of years ago with the Cell Phone companies and instead of one big company raping us for our money, now we have three!…Yay! Lucky Us!!

Anyhoo, I digress…….where were we, oh yes, Eskom….I was just thinking the other day how fantastic it is that our benevolent Lord of Darkness has suspended load shedding due to the fact that a couple of substations have exploded and they really didn’t want to irk the peasants even more than they already have but I was wondering how long this Feast of Light can last, seen as we are heading for that seasonal tilting of the earths axis we call “winter” which usually means more electricity usage……haven’t seen anything mentioned in the papers?…..anyone have a clue? no worries, neither does Eskom.
Before I go, some words of advice…..BACK YOUR STUFF UP!!! Seriously with the electricity going off and on all the time it can only end in tears!

Okay, rant over….I’m gonna make like a substation and blow!..ha ha…I crack myself up..see what I did there I…………..
